New Work

Hello all!

Guess what? This is our first newsletter we’ve ever sent, so if you’re reading this, please celebrate with us as it’s been a long time coming. We’ve got some really exciting news and events to share with you, our dearest collectors, and what better place to share it than HERE in our very first Annie Hanks & Co. newsletter!

You might have noticed that the ‘ & Co. ‘ part of our name is new, and that has a lot to do with the exciting news we have to share! As you may know, we, Katherine + Stephanie (hi, that’s us!) have decided to halt production on the utilitarian line to shift our focus and efforts into our own separate fine art practices. (don’t panic, you can still shop Annie Hanks product here while supplies last, OR at our holiday party {details below }) Both of our respective families had the privilege of welcoming a new life into our worlds this past year and a half, and as we have grown with our families and children, our practice has grown and shifted with us. Naturally, the creative constraints and production schedules that come with a more utilitarian product line left us with little time to spend on exploratory works or honing in on our individual artistic practices. Since the beginning of Annie Hanks, it was always common knowledge between both of us that Annie Hanks, though it would have a utilitarian focus, would also be a home to both of our fine art practices, and eventually be the launching pad for careers in fine art. The two of us have combined our artistic practices and processes for six years now, and we are planning on continuing to do so, but just a little differently. We are overwhelmed by the love you have shown for our utilitarian line, and we may revisit it on special occasions, but we are bursting with anticipation to explore new directions, and are so thankful for the support that has enabled us to do this. You all have, in part, inspired and given us the courage and resources us to pursue creative practices that bring us life and deep joy, and for that, we are incredibly grateful.

Our vision for Annie Hanks & Co. is that it will become a place where we get to share our new individual work and artistic ponderings while creating a space that celebrates the ebbs and flows of the creative lifestyle, and welcoming other creatives and artists onto our platform. This evolution feels incredibly natural and is the best way to establish our own separate artistic identities while keeping the original vision of Annie Hanks, which is built upon artistic collaboration + community.

As far as collaboration, it goes without saying that both of our practices will always be collaborative on some level, we are dear friends and we are continuing to curate and grow this incredible platform and community together, not to mention our new studios are only a seven minute walk away from one another. A hope is for our new respective bodies of work to come together once again in a very new and exciting way. We look forward to welcoming some of our favorite artists into this curated collective and creating a new kind of platform where the creative work and authentic lives and stories of artists intersect. We would love it if you would help us celebrate this new chapter next Thursday, December 19th from 5-8 p.m. We are throwing a little shindig with drinks and small bites and want all of you to be there! In addition to snacks + drinks, there will be some fun events: a few giveaways of Annie Hanks exclusives, an opportunity to buy up the last of our utilitarian inventory, and, as always, the chance to support your local art community.

We are so excited for this next year and are so thankful for your support.
